About AMDPower.com -- Online since March 2000
History
In the summer of 1998, I built my first computer using an
AMD K6-2 "3D" microprocessor. At the time, I was very
impressed that a 300 Mhz processor could be had for under
$250.00. Man, how times have changed. Shortly after, I
started working as a computer technician and followed AMD and Intel's
product releases quite closely, upgrading along the way. We used
to talk shop quite often comparing Intel and AMD processors. I
was always an AMD fan while others supported Intel. After the
release of the Athlon, we came to a mutual agreement :). It was
in March of 2000 that I decided to create AMDPower.com as a portal for
AMD related information. Shortly after its inception, AMDPower
started reviewing Athlon overclocking cards (remember them?)
and HSF units. Since then, the site has grown and branched out
into all things computer related. We try to write unique articles
with an original take on equipment such as our AccessDTV
HDTV Tuner Card review which was Slashdotted
back in October of 2001 and our Fusion HDTV Tuner Card review which was Slashdotted in August of 2004. We do not claim to be the original site, nor
#1 source for AMD related information. We'll leave sites like
AMDZone and AMDMB to fight that out :). Instead, we will simply post
articles, review hardware as it is offered, and try to keep to our
hobbyist roots. Hopefully, you'll find it interesting.
Enjoy the site.
